Country manager (sales consultant Netherlands,Belgium)

1. Background

Russian invasion has caused massive disruption of economic activity in Ukraine and damage to the infrastructure, environment, and livelihoods of the Ukrainian people. The war is still ongoing, but the government is already working on activities for the rapid recovery of Ukraine. The Export booster project is among indicated activities. The project is aimed at supporting exports through the development of Ukrainian manufacturers' capabilities (including SMEs) in entering new markets, internationalization of production activities, and integration into supply chains of the EU, Great Britain, etc. Also ensuring the penetration and wide presence of Ukrainian goods with high added value in international markets.

The Export Booster project is an initiative of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, implemented by the Reform Support Team with the support of the USAID Economic Resilience Activity in partnership with the Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office.

As the russian invasion goes on Ukraine's GDP shrinks and local market capacity is also shrinking, the great challenge is to recover the export component, facilitate the increase of export by all manufacturers and support newcomers to the foreign markets. Therefore, Ukrainian manufacturers (SME’s) are affected by the lack of capacity, sometimes knowledge and resources for reaching foreign markets. To address the problem mentioned above, the project will work with local manufacturers (SMEs) to introduce mechanisms and scalable approaches to enable penetration on foreign markets and promote the integration of Ukrainian manufacturers into the global supply chains.

2. Objective(s)

The Country Manager is responsible for (1) communicating with purchases from target markets to indicate their needs, gather requests, and address them to Ukrainian manufacturers via project Account managers (2) collaborating with project Account managers to ensure that Ukrainian companies fulfill purchase requests (3) guide and assist selected companies through the purchase procedures (4) acting as the client’s representative to coordinate all the necessary activities aimed at entering the target market (5) providing a Final follow-up report describing results achieved by each beneficiary and suggestions for further project scaling and interventions.

Target markets for this position are Netherlands and Belgium.

3. Position and reporting line

The Country Manager reports to the Deputy Project Manager and Project Manager of the Export booster project (who reports to the RST Director).

4. Duration and proposed timeframe

The initial consultancy assignment is expected to start on the 1st of March and has an estimated duration of 7 months. Subject to the availability of funding, the performance of the selected consultant, and the specific needs of the project, this appointment may be extended.

5. Main Duties, Responsibilities

  • Reach out to potential clients on target markets to inform them about Ukrainian manufacturers and their products.

  • Establishing contacts with buyers, customers, search for requests, market screening, clarification of needs.

  • Forming the database of product requests and potential buyers/clients.

  • Recommend and select products for clients based on their individual needs.

  • Professionally represents Project to relevant stakeholders.

  • Preparing presentations, notes and other materials.

  • Preparing timely and quality reports and status updates on project progress.

  • Support Ukrainian manufacturers in building and strengthening client relationships to achieve long-term partnerships on target markets.

  • Maintain accurate client records, keeping track of any contract updates and renewals.

  • Work with the Account managers and other internal teams (Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office, NAZOVNI, etc) to support export activities and ensure KPIs are being met.

  • Complete administrative tasks, such as processing and recording sales, as needed.

6. Expected Results

A comprehensive list of prospective customers (partners) for Ukrainian manufacturers on designated product groups is to be formed. At least 50 companies from target markets.

At least 2 new export contracts for Ukrainian manufacturers should be provided in the target market for an amount not less than 500 000 USD in total.

7. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  1. Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Economics, Marketing or a related field.

  • Professional experience in sales or new business development.

  • Experience in developing leads and researching potential clients on target markets.

  • Good networking skills and the ability to handle numerous client companies and customers.

  • Ability to work under pressure and devise sales strategies.

  • Strong communication, and presentation skills.

  • PC literacy (PowerPoint, Project, Excel, Word).

  • Fluency in English. Ukrainian is an advantage.

  • Ability to multitask and juggle several responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

2. Professional experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of general professional experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in marketing, sales. Additional experience in export, purchase, public or business administration is an advantage.

3. Other experience:

  • Proven skills to establish sales potential with new businesses in target markets.

  • Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams is an asset.

  • Strong understanding of the target markets.

  • Ability to operate independently in business and political, diplomatic environments.

Salary Level: We offer competitive market-based salary levels for candidates with relevant experience.

Duty station: remote
